GROW TO SHOW: Gardening & Farmer’s market
We understand the importance of investing time and care into a project to appreciate the results. We also want to teach this concept to our youth. Through gardening, our camp participants have the opportunity to learn about agriculture without having to travel far. The opportunity to reiterate healthy eating presents itself when campers get to literally enjoy the fruits of their labor.
With the guidance counselors and staff, additional produce will be sold at our Farmer’s Market. During this project, campers learn business practices. Marketing, pricing, and budget all come into play for this project. Proceeds go back into the program to be utilized for future projects at campers’ discretion. This project is lengthy and requires youth to develop patience as they observe growth.
