GOOD NEWS!

I have good news!

Although traditional school and local newspapers have become an obsolete portion of the past, young people benefit from their creation. Journalism, photography, salesmanship, graphic design, and numerous other skills came from distribution of newspapers. Modern youth rely on social media and online sources to get their news, but this does not always allow for desired stories to receive the attention they deserve. Often times, local stories go overlooked because stakeholders are unaware. In poor communities, many residents still rely on print media to receive information.

A local newsletter addresses each of these issues. Young people have the opportunity to write about what interests them within their own communities. They also have the luxury of distributing the newsletter to the audiences they see fit. This also presents an opportunity for sponsorship and advertisement, which results in the teaching of business lessons.
